The Project That Never Ends at work is continuing to Not End some more - our last phase of testing just got pushed back by another two weeks. I would be fairly put out by this, but at the same time as that bit of news, I was also handed the lead for a new project, yay! I’m ready for something new.
I was reading through the Technical Proposal for this new project, right? And I got to the section about estimates, and I came across a line about Scope Creep. I was reminded that I had been equally amused when I read about it in the last project’s tech prop - and I was reminded that I had written a little journal entry about it. I went back and looked it up, curious what I had said:
So I'm reading the technical proposal for my new project at work, and came across this little gem:
"The expected percentage of scope creep for this project is 0 percent."
Anyone else out there find this as snicker-worthy as I do?
This entry was dated on July 9th of last year. At the time I didn’t realize I was begging for the Gods of Irony to swoop down and spite me... as this project was supposed to deliver in October, and we’re now approaching June. Sigh.
