Decisions decisions

Well, I'm back from the grand college tour with my parents. 5 days of 24/7 with my parents. You can imagine my joy! ...

Anyway, so we looked at...

* Connecticut College - small, nice campus with about 1800 undergrads. I like small, but it was a bit too small. I'm looking for strong liberal arts, which it is, but since it's so small, it was a little too much rich white kids with polo and tiffany's. See, I'm used to that because of Tatnall, but it was jut too small and not enough diversity. And not enough off-beat. I was hoping I'd like it a lot, but alas, I don't. It was okay. A possible safety school (I think I'd get in fairly easily) but not one of my faves at all. Oh well.

* Wesleyan - yeah, I know, it's not exactly easy to get in at Wesleyan, but hey, worth a look! I really liked it, I didn't love it. Nice campus, good size, good theater department. Maybe just a little to boring? I dunoo - I mean, everyone always guarantees there's always something to go on campus, but Middletown Connecticut is not exactly hopping, and all the on campus events seemed to be more like art openings and stuff like that, not enough ultimate frisbee club meetings. I don't play frisbee, but you know what I mean. It was artsy and everyone there is smart and very liberal, which is good. I liked it overall.

* Brown - shut up I know it's an Ivy League school. I know it's like impossible to get in. I am aware. Unfortunately (or fotunately, however you want to look at it), I really really really liked it. A lot. I think it's my favorite or one of my favorites at this point. Really pretty campus, and a very diverse and cool group of students. And it's not big and it's not too small. I'm like Goldilocks haha. Anyways, I really really liked it. It would be a matter of getting in...which is very very hard...lol

* Emerson - I'm looking at a few conservatory programs and this was one. If I am going to choose a conservatory program, I liked Emerson. It's not the best one I'm looking at, but I liked the setting (urban but still funky even if it is in the middle of Boston). It sounded pretty good, but I'm not sure it's the right choice for me. It's kinda like comparing apples and oranges when I'm looking at strong liberal arts school and majoring in theater Vs. a conservatory program with a BFA in theater. They are very different and each have a lot of pros and cons.

* Tufts - I liked it! I really liked the campus and the kids there seem really nice and cool. I liked the size, which is about the same as Brown, and I really like the fact that it's very campus-y but only like 15 mins outside Boston. The only drawback was the theater - I hated it. They only have in the round seating and they don't have a procenium. I really did not like the theater facilities. But everything else was really good. One of my faves but not #1.

* Boston University Theater Conservatory - the campus is disgusting and awful, but the program was really appealing if I were to choose to go to a conservatory. I think it is a better choice if I were to go to grad school because the campus is realy bad so I don't think I could go to a 4 year undergrad college there, but maybe a masters if I want to do that after college because then the campus wouldn't matter much because I'd live off-campus. But the program sounded pretty intense and awesome. I just don't know if a conservatory is what I want.

* S.U.N.Y. Purchase Theater Conservatory - No. Just no. I walked on the campus and said "Definitely not." And that was that. It has one of the best theater conservatory programs in the country, but I just couldn't go to school there for 4 years. Never. Hated the campus.

And that was my trip. I've already looked at Skidmore, UVM, and Drew before (this past summer and fall), and I'm going to look at Vassar in 2 weeks. After that, the remaining schools I'm gonna visit are Julliard, Tisch conservatory, and UVA. So for now, I've got about 4 schools to go before I've gotta decide what I like and start re-visiting.

This is possibly one of the most stressful and difficult decisions I have to make. In addition to worrying about where I'll get it and which schools I like and don't like, I also have the added decision of a conservatory program vs. a strong theater program in a liberal arts university. Gahh....

And that's about it. Everything else in my life is pretty status quo.
