And if you really cared why won't you let them make up their own minds for what they want? What if you keep them sheltered and humbled, only for them to wind up growing angry with you because years down the line they discover they're bloody-royalty and you never told them? I don't want you shutting me out of their lives. I don't want you shutting me out of their life either.

If you don't want to be shut out of their lives, then grow a backbone and be a man. Stop making shit-poor excuses for your screw ups and putting the blame on others and take responsibility. Otherwise, stay out of it.
