Had a good solo Haidong class today. I really do love going in on Saturdays and practicing at my own pace and maybe getting a few tips and some info from Sabomnim if he’s there. I’d really love it if there was an official Saturday class but I think I benefit more from the way things have been working out for the time being. My Gumdo has been pretty good as of late. I’m fully back into the swing of things, just about all of my injuries have healed and my endurance is pretty good. My forms have been slowly improving and my knowledge has been slowly increasing, and that is the way I prefer things to be working out. Slow and steady builds a strong foundation that’s difficult to un-build. Not that everything is perfect by any means, my sodosae needs to be straighter and my foot turned more inward, my form needs to be more relaxed altogether and some of my cuts need better angles and straighter paths. BUT, overall things are slowly improving and I am happy with that, my current bugs will be slowly worked out to make room for the next wave of bugs that need dealt with.
My Tang Soo Do also seems to be doing well. Some of my kicks are getting better and I’m finding some more snap although I don’t even want to get into the list of problems and things that need to be improved… It’s just too long for me to think about at any one time… But slow and steady will eventually overcome most all problems… I think I’ve been improving more internally than externally lately as well, and that is a bit harder to quantify but that is something that is very important to me and I’m always happy to notice an improvement there.
All in all Karate is going very well, my only real considerable misgivings are that I want to practice more sparring in Tang Soo Do and practice more Bamboo cutting in Haidong. The first of the two isn’t so easy to work with and the second is currently impossible to do anything about but both would be nice.
