I'm an avid reader of many story's genres and fanfic's there are in all fair few who actually inspire me to draw (Flake excepting as always). Now there is on Fanfiction.net a writer who's story's give me the most vivid images (and before anyone thinks its them its from the spirited away fandom). However the impression I get when I read the authors notes leads me to believe my fanart advances would either be not very welcome or should they be welcome would quickly turn into the kind of "friendship" I had with my former room-mate where i was used for my art ...among other things. Now that person has been out of my life for going on 4 years now and I'm not over keen on having a similar situation crop up. I'd hate to deny myself for love of drawing but I feel obligated, normally, when I do fanart to advise the person that I have done fanart for them... I've been stewing this over in my head now for about 2 year's now and while i can justify altering the images to make them oc's i would bother me a great deal to do so. I draw fanart to honour that writers work...its just the type of person is am I guess.
Or I could be overly paranoid....
I did in fact attempt to contact them a while ago however it was though an external site and I've never really trusted mail servers until I've seen results so they either ignored me or they never got the message.
so to draw or not to draw that is the question...too bad no outrageous fortune follows I could use the money :P
