went over to visit filipino sister Gladys over one of the weekends. 3hours up to Yamagata is madness, especially when you're in the local JR trains. but i guess, choices were limited for me unless i was born rich and could afford shinkansen every day!
'how did you do it?????'
bring a laptop loaded with dramas/anime and watch them in the train! unfortunately there is no WiFi in the trains.
oh wells.
Omoshiroyamakogen 面白山高原 in Yamagata
doesn't this scene remind you of the old chinese tv series?
red hues and waterfall scene with freezing cold water

crazy Gladys, but thanks to her, i get to learn some Tagalog and eat filipino dishes! FOOD REGINS! XD
before the sun sets, we trotted to Yamadera 山寺 - a place historically built with temples and very yama-ish! mountains. climbed and huffed and puffed and used cow strength to charge to the top!
country!
Gladys looking for her prince charming! :p
these are some fabulous konnyaku balls and edamame ice cream. konnyaku balls tempts me to bounce it off the ground! haha
and mind you, despite its natural surroundings in Yamagata, it just surprised me that it is way MORE DEVELOPED than nishi-nasuno. it's so developed that it looks like putrajaya. psft.
so that's my Sendai 仙台 - Yamagata 山形 trip for the weekend. A weekend off Tokyo is worth it.
