this is your life and it's ending one minute at a time
i have been subjected to a hiatus of thought. due to my degenerating mind, i have been unable to compose a coherent entry in the recent weeks. now, in the midst of the morning silence, i am in desperate need of a source of entertainment. this shall, temporarily, relieve me of my current state of tedium. the following will be rather desultory as my amnesic condition does not allow me to be as sequential as desired.
at the moment, i am seated in a rather uncomfortable ikea chair. with a single desk lamp to illuminate the bedroom, the dim atmosphere is rather somber. i have, due to the upcoming arrival of relatives, been relocated to a living space nearly a quarter the size of my original bedroom. the loss of a commodious living space has resulted in my slothfulness. in order to console me, the parentals have decided on a poor course of action in providing me, temporarily, with a television set. at the foot of my bed lays the murderous box with the dvd player, vcr and the satellite receiver. this has been my curse. primarily, my life has been free of the filth on television. i have had no desire to gaze at the screen for hours on end. now, however, it seems to be convenient to subject myself to it. fortunately, the history channel along with a&e seem to be the my channels of choice and therefore, my mind has not completely decayed.
according to the government, i have reached the age of majority - the status of having attendant rights and responsibilities. my mother has warned me of my inevitable abuse of the little power i have gained as an individual. she believes, now that parental consent is no longer necessary, that i will begin to circumvent the world of school completely. i fear that she may be correct. my father has reacted quite differently to the situation. he lives in fear that my age will encourage me to leave this household and therefore, he has showered me with electronic goods in an attempt to persuade me to continue living at home. i have received from my dear father a spare battery for my laptop, an external usb hard drive, a usb microhub, a firewire pcmcia, a cordless optical mouse and a rather utilitarian paper trimmer.
i have grown weary of this composition business. i apologize for the abrupt conclusion; however, the time of night begs for an attempt at sleep. my insomniac self, however, most likely return.
