I'm finishing up a skirt for a commission today. It would have been done yesterday except I ran out of boning. I now have more boning and it will be finished tonight instead.
I'm also supposed to be working on a LARP costume commission this weekend, but its likely I won't be able to get to it until Sunday. I'm not happy about this, because I'm a couple of days behind, but it can't be helped. I'm sick again, after having gotten better for a few days. This means I'm going to need to make time to go to the health center on Monday.
In other news, the semester has started, so I also have that to contend with. Tonight I need to do work for my online class. Monday, I do the work for all my other classes. It's going to be a busy semester, but I knew that was coming. I already have homework in everything.
Dragon*Con costuming is on hold while I finish the commissions. The only thing I've got left for myself is Wendy's corset, which I'm thinking may not get done again, because I'm running out of time. I have a corset I can use as backup, but it won't look as good. On top of that, Nigel wants me to make a costume for him for the con that would normally be simple but, as I'm pressed for time, I'm not sure I'll be able to finish it. I think I may have to tell him he's going to have to wait until next year.
Next weekend is the first Dust to Dust three-day event. I'm going because I desperately need a break from being stressed all the time. LARPing can be therapeutic when necessary and, since I can't play FoD until next season, D2D is the other game I'm going to play. Fortunately, I finished my costume for that character months ago, so I don't have to worry about making anything. I will be missing their second event, however, because I'll be in Florida. Florida trumps LARPing, IMO.
We're still broke at the moment, but my disbursement should be just around the corner. When it comes in, I can pay off a few things (and people) and life, in general, should become easier. Some of it is going toward our much-needed vacation, while a good portion is getting socked away for potential moving expenses next summer. Oh, and then I have the GRE to register for and all the application fees for various grad schools. At least we won't be starving and will be able to afford gas.
If I sound kind of bummed, I apologize. I'm stressed and sick, which is never a good combination for me. I also have no idea how I got sick, since I almost never leave the house these days (too busy working on sewing stuff). I suspect it's probably sinus/allergy related.
