Lots going on! I just got back from Portals yesterday and we've got a FoD event at the end of this week. I also start school on Wednesday and I'm sort of maddeningly busy right now.
Portals was fun, though hot and bug-covered. I doused myself in Backwoods Off and still got eaten alive. I did get to do a lot of fighting, however, and it was nice to play Saoirse because her mindset is so much less serious than mine. Not a whole lot of personal character development at this game, but then it can't always be about me. It was nice to hang out with the trolls again. I'm glad to have an excuse to LARP with my fellow FoD staff-members when we don't have to worry about actually running anything.
Regarding FoD, I still have rather a lot to do to prepare for the game. I need to do laundry, obviously, but I've also got to do downtimes and explore tags, and I need to make at least one tabard. I know I can get it all done before Friday, but I also know that my schedule is going to be packed.
As I mentioned, school starts on Wednesday. I originally thought it began today and was a little worried I wouldn't have time to get everything done, but I realized I was mistaken. Wednesday's my short day at school, so I should be fine and not terribly strapped for time. Thursday will be busy, though. I'm taking four courses this summer, so I'm overloaded and my schedule is kind of wonky (mostly afternoon and evening classes, when I'm used to being done by 3 or 4). The only class I'm not really looking forward to is 19th C. American Lit because we're reading a lot of Emerson and I think he's pretty overrated, though my prof apparently has a sense of humor, which is always a relief. I'm taking some sort of silly PE requirement too, but its mostly stuff I'm already doing, so I'm not too worried about it. My two fun courses are fiction writing and a film class.
The only other thing of note is that I've cleared out my BPAL stash considerably. Partly this is because I needed some extra cash and partly because I need to make room for new stuff. I technically don't allow myself to have more than nine bottles at any one time, because it helps keep me from spending too much and nothing gets neglected. Right now, all I've got left that I'm going to keep are bottles of Bilquis, The Gaoler's Daughter, Crib Girls and Sleipnir. Nigel's got his bottle of Ded Moroz and it'll probably take him a while to get through that one. I know I'm going to be picking up a bottle of Chuparosa and probably Door at some point, so I'll eventually need the room. I've got a bottle of Chaos Theory that I'll probably eventually swap and a bottle of Long Night Moon which will probably also go. Long Night Moon is sort of a tragedy because it's such a pretty scent but the mint in it amps like crazy on me.
I do still have plenty of imps however, and probably need to do another cull pretty soon. I just got a new round of swaps over the weekend and am slowly working my way through testing those. I have not one, but two versions of Peacock Queen now, and I have to say I like the more recent ones better. This round of imps is rose-heavy, but I'm really fond of rose scents, so this isn't a problem. I have an imp of Katrina van Tassel, which was something I really wanted to try and its quite pretty, though not something I'd need a big bottle of. I've also got a few more imps on the way, including a decant of Oisin I won in a raffle... which is weird, because I rarely win anything and I've won three things in the past two months.
Maybe I should buy a lottery ticket?
Anyway, I'm mostly rambling because I don't want to do any more work for the game tonight, but don't want to go to bed just yet. Guess I should find something else productive to do.
