I should know better than to use commercial patterns. I got almost all the way done with the picnic jacket this evening, only to find out the peplum is too small. Like, way too small. Thinking it was actually my error, I measured the pattern pieces and, yup, their math is off by two and a half inches. Two and a half inches that's like three dress sizes. Just awful. Even worse, I don't have enough of the stretch satin or lining material to make changes and cut another peplum. I found some non-stretch satin of a similar color in my stash but I'm really wary of using it. Unfortunately, it looks like I'll have to.
I was so close to finishing, though. I'm so frustrated right now.
I'm going to finish my fascinator in a few minutes and then probably call it a night, since I have school in the morning. I'll try to work on the costume after school tomorrow, but we'll see how far I get. I'm thinking, right now, I'm going to have to drop the blouse I was going to make completely and focus on nothing but the jacket and skirt. I've got a blouse I can wear, but it's not exactly what I was going for with the outfit.
I think I'm done with McCall's patterns. The last three I've used have had something unworkable/wrong with them.
