In today’s story of a Rookie Dad, Brian discovers that A&D ointment is not for use in eyes.
If you rub your eye when you have A&D on your finger, it ends up feeling like you’ve ignored a lubrication schedule and put grease some place where perhaps 10W30 might have been more appropriate. This results in one eye moving substantially slower than the other and while not exactly uncomfortable it can still not be considered pleasant. A&D is also not particularly transparent and takes forever to blink out, so while you’re looking walleyed, you are also half blind and weeping. Luckily, “Weeping Walleye” apparently falls within the expected appearance spectrum for husbands and goes unnoticed by wives so that it can be hidden until the incident becomes funny later.
On the plus side, I expect it prevents pink eye and it is nowhere near as painful as the lesson learned about rubbing eyes after chopping jalapenos.
