a day in the life of a Stein staff member...

Oct 02, 2007 16:06

the morning was pretty uneventful (excpet for the most hilarious game of kickball that I have ever witnessed) At around 11 one of the kids (very violent and aggressive kids) pulled my hair... this means he was holding clumps of my hair in his hands. He immediately was escorted to the time out room. We looked around the classroom to see how much hair he pulled out but couldn't find any... likelihood is, he ate it. hahha he's still so adorable.

all the while, another kid starts freaking out and yelling at another staff "I'm going to fucking kill you"... he didn't want to read a book. anyway, he is put into the time out in the conjoining room next to us. he produces to sing "I'm gunna fuck you up" in the tune of "momma's gunna knock you out" and basically beats the door down.

LASTLY, a kid next door who is also one of the most aggressive kids at school starts going off: biting pens, punching himself in the face, hitting his head against the corner of the desk, attacking staff and other students, etc. It takes 7 staff to prone him, however since Pedro knocked the door down next door there is no T.O. room for him. So I have to take this escalated kid out of our T.O. room to let this other kid go in. The police and ambulance came to take him away. At one point about 20 kids were in our class with maybe 5 staff and we were trying to get all their lunches made.

all you can do at the end of the day is laugh about it. I love these kids so much. and my job.
