Okay, so I was reading an article about that One Direction fanfic turned published book, which now supposedly has a movie deal . . . and apparently, this is an actual quote from the fic in question: "Your pulse has quickened hasn't it? Your mouth is dry, you have that feeling... down there." (This, by the way, is the Edward-Cullen/Christian-Grey-in ( Read more... )

Don't laugh. We need these people to make out fics look 10x better than they actually are.

But even good boys, above a certain age (well below the age of consent) are comfortable talking about their own bodies.

LOL, they do make us look good in comparison, don't they! Whenever I have a bad writing day, I can always say, "Hey, at least I didn't have a bad boy character refer to his lover's arousal as 'that feeling down there!'"

Seriously, the whole quickening pulse and dry mouth thing sounds like heatstroke, not sex.

That's nerves when you meet a guy you like but don't know if he likes you. Not, about to have sex nerves. (because if you're THAT nervous you shouldn't be having sex)

Is the target audience of this "fiction" 10-year-olds?! The phrase "you're so sexy" is actually referred to as "dirty talk". Sometimes, stuff like this amuses me. Other times, it pisses me off that this is the tripe getting publisher and media attention.

Definitely have to agree with leifang666, though. Shit like this makes me look like effing Oscar Wilde.

The jury have cast their votes and concluded:

"You're so sexy" is flirting, or sexual harrasment.

Someone pointed out in the comments that a few GOOD fanfics have found publishers - for instance, the author of a Sherlock AU that was actually well-written is having her work published (with character names changed) as a gay romance novel. But they definitely do not get as much attention as the 50 Shades of Sparkly One Direction Vampires brigade. (It was really an endless crap chain - Twilight inspired 50 Shades inspired After). And, yes, according to this author, "You're so sexy" is dirty talk. I imagine in her eyes, "You've got a great pair of legs" would be grounds for a lawsuit.

I feel very bad for Harry Styles just for the existence of this book.

and here's my 'review' for After, although I haven't read it.

I've always envisioned him and a bunch of his friends taking turns reading this thing aloud and laughing their butts off while getting drunk. Because if I were in his position? I'd have to laugh at it or else I'd cry.

we can't blame them because of it because everybody doesn't have to have talent.. if they weren't, we couldn't understand that fanfics worth and price. so we should thank to them. and that showed us some people are just looking for sex, not for a strong story, lust or romanticism... okay let's don't think anout lust or romanticism.. but where is the story.. i mean i was imagining that kind of rubbish when i was 7-8 i think.. :D i pity them.. and their fans because they still couldn't discover the real fanfics...
