The bike co-op mechanics went for a nine o'clock ride last night along the tobacco trail. It was really nice to see fireflies, bats, owls, opossum, and deer. My super bright LED headlight would occasionally flash on some animal eyes in the dark.

Yesterday I went to wrench at the bike co-op for the first Sunday in a long time. I was graced with one sweet dreadlocked girl and her mom, who brought in two Raleighs. I can't begin to express what joy I feel fixing someone's bike that's been in the basement for three decades, especially a bike that is so lovely to work on.

In May we are expecting some visitors from Canada. In honor of them, Sam raced out and bought a fourth bike. The wheels and Kevlar tires alone were worth the craigslist price.

While Sam got a ride to the airport to fly to Orlando for a conference this week, I looked at the best way to get up to Carrboro. It's a long, hilly ride to the bottom of Chapel Hill. Then there's a one mile climb 400 feet in elevation in one shot, followed by two miles through UNC-Chapel Hill neighborhood. Fun. The one mile climb went surprisingly ( Read more... )

All week I had to sign for Fed Ex and UPS deliveries while Sam was at work, but resist opening any of the boxes. This morning Sam and I decided that our Saturday morning would be reserved for fixing things. He woke up early this morning and went in the attic with bike and all the boxes.
