Moonlight, the series. It's a barely disguised remake of
Forever Knight. I mean barely. The lead vamp's name is Mick... Mick!!!!
Watching it was kind of laughable from that angle. Cinematographic elements were directly copied from the series as well as a host of plot elements. And I enjoyed it.
I enjoyed it in the ponderous dialog, the bad acting and horribly cheesy plot lines.
How come every vampire show lately starts out with "A series of vampire-like killings bring our vampy hero out of his bat-cave to investigate?
Forever Knight did it in it's pilot staring Rick Springfield, the pilot of Forever Knight with Geraint Wyn Davies did it, Blood Ties did it (although the private investigator was the human in that show) and now Moonlight did it. Heck, didn't Dr. Who do something like this?
Would it kill the TV industry to accept up with something more original?
Seriously, the writing was terrible, the actors chewed the scenery (of course they did, with lines like they had to deliver?) and some of the costuming was horrible. TV needs to stop trying to do goth, they just make it look silly.
Buuuuuut, and this is why I am still going to watch it, lead vampy dude is hot, friend vamp is hot, blonde bimbette is cute and cop-boy is cute. Pathetic reason to watch a show? Probably, but not so much with the caring. I like vampire shows, they're usually cheesy and fun and hopefully the writing will improve.
