Summary: Post PRiS. Silvy examines her life.

Disclaimer: Power Rangers belongs to Saban. I just play with them.

A/N: Written for

Do you guys remember Writer's Guide? That was the most awesome site! I totally forgot about it. Although it's apparently dead now... Which, you know, it kinda died after... WF or something. But apparently it's archived, here.

The First Day of the Rest of Your Life

"I don't want to be an astraunaut anymore," Silvy said thoughtfully.

"You don't?" her friend Carlos, the Black Power Ranger asked, confused.

"Nope, I wanna be a Power Ranger," she declared.

Silvy sighed as the school bell rang. She gathered her books and started towards the door. She had been just a kid then. Of course she had wanted to be a Power Ranger. What kid didn't? But now she was older. She was a senior in high school, just three weeks away from graduating, and she was expexted to decide what she was going to do with the rest of her life.

But the thing was, she still wanted to be a Power Ranger. Things were different now than they had been back then. After the rangers had revealed their identities to the world, things had changed on Earth. As much as things ever changed on Earth, she supposed. Earth and Andros' home planet of KO-35 had formed an alliance to build Terra Venture, Earth's first real space exploration vessel that could travel beyond the Solar System. Carlos had taken her out to space that day. She knew she hadn't seen a lot of the universe, she hadn't seen any of it. But she knew it was out there, and she wanted to see it.

She had taken every astronomy course she could find, she had even tried to get on board Terra Venture, but she had been to young then. After Terra Venture left Earth, there were other teams of rangers, none, however, in Angel Grove. She didn't know why, maybe all the villains had lost interest, or maybe they had decided it was to well guarded. Or for all she knew it was considered some kind of hallowed ground. She had no idea what was going on in the universe beyond the scope of Earth's telescopes.

She stared blankly at her locker as she put her books inside. She was the same age now that Carlos had been when she knew him, when he had been a Power Ranger.

She saw her journal crammed in the side of her locker, pushed behind a stack of books and folders.

It had been what she had wanted since that day. It had been the best day of her life. It had been the day that changed everything.

She pulled out the journal. It easily fell open to that page. The one she stared for hours on end, imagining what her life could be like. It wasn't anything special, just a photo of her and Carlos.

Silvy didn't know if she could really be a ranger. If there was even a way for her to become one, or if she could cut it if there was.

She pulled one of the corners of the photo, revealing a folded scrap of paper. She pulled it out carefully. Taking a quick look around, she carefully unfolded the paper.

"Sylvie, if you ever need anything
555-6498
Carlos"

But she knew she had to try.

She slammed her locker shut just as the bell rang. But instead of heading to class, she took off in the other direction, towards the door, the tiny scrap of paper that potentially held her whole future clutched tightly in her hand.
