Cast Party Alternative

Aug 31, 2009 13:22

First of all, I can't tell you how anxious I am to get back out in to the Streets this weekend!  I go for my second follow-up appointment with the surgeon in about 2 hours or so and I'm really hoping he'll clear me for active duty again.  I need to get back to living my life!

Which leads me to reason for this post.  Most of the folks we (Carl and I) enjoy hanging out with are here on LJ and most of those same wonderful people have expressed the same disinterest in attending the official cast party at The Brat Stop.  While I appreciate the efforts made by the BRF Entertainment Staff on our behalf and their sincere desire to reward us for a stunningly awesome season with a cast party, I just don't feel like hanging out in a potentially smoky environment on the last day of Faire.  I've been to The Brat Stop before and sometimes the cigarette smoke is so thick you have to cut it with a knife.  Next year, after the WI State Smoking Ban goes into effect (January 1st, 2010!  I can't wait!), I will be a little more open to the idea, but for now I'd rather just stay away.

Carl and I propose an alternative location, one that is conveniently located in a southerly direction close to both US 41 and I 94:

Buffalo Wild WIngs!
Fountain Square Place
3961 Fountain Square Place
Waukegan, IL 60085-670

Yeah, I know there's one close to The Brat Stop, but again, that's Wisconsin and is very likely to be just as smoky.  Since most of you fantastic folks live in Illinois anyhow, we figured this would put you that much closer to home.  However, if you intend to stay overnight at the Faire grounds, it isn't that far away from Bristol, either.  As you all know, all Illinois restaurants are smoke free now.  Plus, the kitchen at BWW stays open until 1:30am and they have interactive online trivia that we can play free of charge.  They aren't vegetarian, but they do have a fish sandwich and some tasty spicy fried shrimp on the menu.  The sauces range from extremely mild to "OMG, my tonsils are on fire!," so there's a little something for everyone, I think.

If you have other suggestions, we're certainly open to them.  We just thought BWW might be a fun way to end the season with our friends.  Please reply to this post stating your level of interest, both in attending a cast party alternative and in the choice/location of venue.  If we have enough interested parties, we might call ahead and try to reserve a portion of the dining room for just us.  Thanks!
