I decided to bow out of the comic expo this summer. A lot of my artist alley peeps also decided to do the same thing. It's hard to predict when Alberta and British Columbia will be getting COVID vaccines for the general population and July feels unlikely.
Fortunately, there wasn't a penalty to move my table to 2022, so I wasn't out my $346. This surprised me--but it's nice that the convention realizes the extenuating circumstances. It was easier to move it than prepare and fret and plan and then have to cancel. The Big Four Building gets plenty hot, crowded and stuffy even in normal times. I have no idea if the Stampede is going to happen in a modified format either. I'm not a huge Stampede or rodeo fan, but the carnival atmosphere was fun.
I'm waiting to see if another convention that I rolled my table over last year will be going ahead this year. I think most spring and summer conventions will have it figured out by April :\
