We have been managing a laundromat since May of this year. It's up on Powell and 82nd in a strip mall that has a Food for Less grocery store, discount stores, pawn and gambling stores and ethnic restaurants. If you've ever seen the show "Cops" when it's filmed in Portland this is the neighborhood you're most likely to see. The locals fondly call it "Felony Flats". Our clientele are all working regular people. Hispanic (Mexican and Central Americans, Asian (Korean, Vietnamese, Chinese), Sudanese and Haitians, regular white folks, LGBT'ers, Hipster college kids, seniors, Homeless people, Well-To -Do folks with comforters too large for their home machines or there because their 'W/D broke at home and the repair man can't come until Monday'. I know this because they always make a point of telling me.
Despite the neighborhood we have a reputation for being a great laundromat.
A. It's clean.
B. All the machines work.
C. There is security on property
D. we have 24 hour video surveillance. With feed to our home.
It's the live video feed that is the most fascinating thing.
