Somehow, five unconnected things are easier than a real post

1. The recent household routine has involved both of us having Monday off every other week. We usually celebrate the day by having breakfast at Culina. But this morning, Culina was inexplicably closed. Woe.

2. We had a poor substitute of a breakfast at Starbucks instead, and consoled ourselves by purchasing books in the attached Chapter's bookstore. While browsing, I heard two of the twenty-something staff discussing their plans for when oil runs out. My poor opinion of humanity my not be as justified as I think.

3. We've reached that season where the mid-morning chill encourages me to plan soup for supper and the mid-afternoon heat makes me change my mind to barbequing chicken. However, the sky is looking somewhat surly, which makes me think I may yet be making lentil soup and biscuits in my too warm kitchen.

4. Guilt finally overcame me, and I mowed the back yard. If it were a person, just about now it would be passing a hand over the uneven stubble and muttering "Well, at least it's shorter."

5. The downside is that I can't help but imagine that the flowerbeds are looking at me reproachfully as I pass by now. I try not to make eye contact with them.
