so she's intersex. in the sports world, this has grown to freak-show-circus-time proportions and i want to tear my hair out.
my heart goes out to her. Is it creepy to send a letter to her fan mail address to show my support? am attempting to find an online (or otherwise) community of athletes who are working towards systemic change, or who are, at the very least, organizing to support other athletes whose sex and gender are being targeted.
the thing that I ABSOLUTELY DETEST about all of this is that the testing comes out of some sort of assumption that there are men who are *pretending* to be women so that they can rise to the top of the sport more easily. except no such person has ever been found, and all that has ever come out of this public testing is the outing of intersex people. such bullshit.
