Greetings from La Spezia!!
Buonasera! I'm in La Spezia, which is on the Ligurian coast...a stopping point before we head to Cinque Terre in the morning. So far this trip has been crazy...heat, walking, exhaustion, frustration, sweating, being lost, and crazy haunted hotels. And I'm loving every single minute of it. We spent Friday in Amsterdam...and yes, its exactly what you would think it would be. Yesterday we did Venice...that kicked our asses, because we had to carry everything on our backs (can't drive to Venice). It was beautiful though. We did a gondola and fed the pigeons...and stayed in the crazy haunted whore hotel...more on that one later.
Today we drove from Venice to La Spezia...a much longer drive than anticipated, since half of it was through the Italian Alps. So a long, windy, nauseating drive...but man, oh man, what amazing scenery. It literally took my breath away. There was a town at the bottom of a canyon. And a gorgeous random castle, and an insane plateau...just amazing.
As soon as I got on the plane, I felt my anxieties that have been eating at me for the past few months just completely melt away. Sure, there are a whole new set of anxieties now...but they are part of the adventure. The knot in my stomach that has taken up permanent residence is starting to disappear. Man, I needed this.
Ok, better go, hotel internet is not cheap. Ciao!!
