Okay, okay!
I'm jumping onto the bandwagon very late in the day and doing this:
Step One
- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fun ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
- If you wish for real possible things, make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.
Step Two
- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use - or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free - do it.
You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf - to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not - it's your call.
There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
Wish List
1) For people to give something, anything to the NSPCC or another charity of your choice that is aimed specifically at helping children. Because I don’t think people can ever do enough to help kiddies in need.
2) For someone to teach me the basics of physics - only people with infinite patience need apply ^__^
3) Send me a postcard/scribble/anything colourful/interesting/random that I can put on my pin-board to brighten up the place. Doesn’t have to be anything special, just something small that you like and maybe want to share.
4) Give me a book - any old book - honestly - I’ll read anything!
5) Sweets and/or choccie from countries outside Britain - I always love trying new things and comparing.
6) Any local/regional/international recipes of interest that you have and would like to share - I’d love to receive them and then try to nag Luton/my brother into making them for me.
7) Silver jewellery - I love it and can’t get enough of it (okay, I know that anyone sending me jewellery is so far in the realm of ‘unlikely’ that’s it beyond comprehension, but this is a wish list and what’s a girl to do but try?)
8) Tickets to an England rugby match - don’t care where, don’t care when, and don’t care against whom, just as long as it’s England playing.
9) Somebody (preferably a big tough man) to come and sort out our bastard neighbours.
10) Go and find another one of these lists somewhere and see if you can help make someone elses wish come true.
And that’s it! God that was hard to do!
