On the way to Agra we stopped at a little restaurant in the middle of nowhere. They had laid out a marquee for us with flower petals aranged to say 'Welcome' on the grass outside. Most people opted for some chips or a sandwich but I had malai kofta which were really yummy, and some lime soda (soda water with fresh lime juice) which was refreshing but a bit sharp. I went to the loo and a lovely lady in a sari gave me my own personal sheets of loo roll, and then my own personal tissues to dry my hands with. This happens everywhere in India and you have to pay R10 (about 13p) to the attendant. The loos are always very clean.
Arrived at the JP Palace Hotel where we were welcomed with glasses of rosewater. Dinner (as always it seems in India) started at 7.30pm. Unsurprisingly the choice was not as extensive as at the Hyatt Regency but there was a decent choice of Indian and Chinese food (and salads, which I never eat abroad). I was feeling a bit shattered so I just had some rice and dal ans a plain chapatti, but couldn't resist the yummy puddings including the local speciality of candied pumpkin (name?) which was gorgeous! Lots of watermelon juice, which I suspect was the reason for the slightly iffy tummy in the night.
