getting things done

Phew!

I'm progressing. My body hates me right now, but I'm trucking through.

I finished my French paper at 4:45am. Yeah. I think it's pretty good, though.

I went back to my apartment, all intent on pulling an all-nighter, but I walked into my bedroom, and Rachel had surprised me with a "North Village Turn-Down Service." She had cleaned all the books off my bed (and stacked them neatly), neatly laid out my two blankets at the foot of my bed, folded my pajamas and laid them out, fully pulled up my covers, propped up one pillow and tucked in my two stuffed animals there, and pulled down the other corner of my covers. On the pillow on that side, she put a mint and a note. I couldn't resist going to sleep.

I got three whole hours. I was supposed to sleep about an hour and a half, but I overslept. I got ready quickly, drove to Starbucks, splurged on a venti soy chai, pumpkin bread, and oatmeal, and then took it with me to the library, where I arrived at 9:30am. I ate breakfast as I did some more research for my religion paper. Then I grabbed a computer and wrote until 2pm. At that point, I wasn't done, but I needed to do work for my history senior seminar. I e-mailed Dr. Matthews, attached my incomplete outline and my incomplete paper, and explained the massive amount of work I've been juggling.

Then I dashed off to history, having not yet read the paper I was supposed to have read and critiqued.

Seminar was awesome. Four freakin' hours long, but awesome. We were all really sad that today was the last day.

I got my rewritten short paper back. A-, baby! I've still got it. :)

I returned to the library around 7pm. I checked my e-mail. Dr. Matthews is a godsend. She doesn't announce this policy, but she gives students an extra 24 hours to finish an assignment if they request it. So I have until tomorrow at 5pm. Of course, that wasn't a reason for me to slack off, so I've added another page to my outline, which is probably one and a half pages to my paper.

Dr. Fehler just e-mailed us. He said our class is the closest he's ever come to teaching a graduate course. A few weeks ago he even had a Freudian slip of referring to a 200 level class as his undergraduate class, with the implication that we weren't an undergraduate class. He said he really enjoyed having us in his seminar, and he's been really impressed by our work and our discussions. Tuesdays have been the highlight of his week.

It was possibly the sweetest thing I've ever been told. I teared up just a little reading it. It was just such a compliment to hear all that from one of my favorite history professors.

Tonight is Christmas Crunk, which I am going to, damn it! I am disregarding how insane that is, considering I haven't slept enough, eaten dinner, or showered yet. But I've missed it for three years, and by golly, I am not missing it my senior year!

Tomorrow Andrew and I are having lunch. I'm so pleased.

Okay, my body is majorly sore from all this sitting in a desk. I've tallied my library hours since Sunday at 9pm. Out of exactly 48 hours as I write this, I've been in the library for 21 of them. Yeah. And I've been in class for six hours (two yesterday). I've slept about 10 hours.

Yes, my life is insane. But at least right now, I don't need to go jump off the belltower.
