This has to be one of the most interesting Lady Gaga covers I've ever come across.

I was so intrigued by it I started looking up other stuff from Brett Domino. From my bit of quick scrounging and watching, he started out as a goofy keyboard act that was on Britain's Got Talent a couple years ago. He and his friends didn't get far on the show, but realized they could have something if they fine tuned it a bit and played up the characters as much as the music.

All their videos/music before BGT were very simple and silly, and afterward they start dressing up to emphasize the character and style, and have gotten very good at editing their videos.

At this point their act pulls together the stark nerdism of Kraftwerk, with the low-fi mentality of chip tunes, a bit of slapstick idiocy and some actual musical talent. I'm still not convinced they have a broad enough appeal to make a living at it, but they have a few gems hidden in their stuff.

Their cover of Fairytale of New York is my favorite thing they've put on Youtube so far.

ETA: Okay, their original song What Would You Do (If A Shark Started Eating You) is pretty darn good, too.

funny, music
