Help me procrastinate some more? :)
I PROMISE this is the last stupid question post like this. The next post will be fic, I swear.
Okay, so I'm trying to keep myself from writing these three horrible papers I need to turn in next week by writing bigbangs (yes, plural...) and you guys need to help me with some stuff.
1. That thing Dean does whenever he loads his gun. When he taps the magazine (?) with his fist before he loads it into the whatever? How would someone who isn't completely gun illiterate describe that? I've tried several shooting websites, but they seem to assume that their readers have at least a basic knowldge of guns and don't offer neat little diagramms of what each part of a gun is called and what it does.
Edit: I'm starting to think that the tapping for good luck thing is actually fanon, but then again, I do feel like I remember watching SPN the other day and seeing him do it...
Basically this:
plus the weird tapping thing. Seriously, explain it like I'm five years old. I'm throwing around words I vaguely associate with guns and have no freakin' idea what I'm doing.
2. I'm not crazy, when I'm thinking Dean would let Ben watch an R-rated movie with him, right?
3. Since we've established that I know less than nothing about guns, let's talk about cars. Old trucks, specifically. What are some things that could go wrong with them, especially if it's been sitting in Bobby's salvage yard for most of its existence and nobody ever really took care of it. How would one go about fixing those things? (Again, like I'm five years old with all the important car words and stuff)
4. How on earth does one write a decent Bobby!POV?
And finally, not really a question, but I've been writing this fic for the spn_gen_bigbang and I love how it's coming along and then BAM, I stumble over a fic with the EXACT same premise. It's in a different fandom and the idea isn't that original, but still...I stoppped reading after the first half of the first chapter because I didn't want to risk any of their ideas leaking over into my fic, but shit, the parts I read where so goddamn similar it scares me.
