I'm taking a little break from my 5 part entry of the Causes and Destruction of Abuse and Bullying. I would like to discuss the importance of friendship and the benefits gained.

I've lived in one house my whole life. Twenty years. Even so my only link to people outside of family comes online. *Shrug* I was homeschooled from middle school up and my friends never bothered to come by to visit and my mother never allowed me to go visit them because of the kinds of neighborhoods they lived in. But I think for me this was better because I'm a bit agoraphobic and being in the social setting of school, surrounded by so many people made me uncomfortable

You have brought up a very good point. Social networking such as LJ, Myspace, Facebook and other places where blogging and interaction in real time or even in asynchronous communication has opened doors for contact for those that haven't been socialized properly in a live setting

Well, you've got your very own living test subject right here. ^__^ I'm who I am today after about seven years (Nearing eight) of online socializing being my main way of connecting to people.

Oddly enough, I'm most content socializing online, nearly as content socializing face to face and CANNOT under ANY circumstances socialize properly on the phone. I've been known to panic when forced to speak to someone on the phone. I've no idea why. The running joke in my family is that I was killed by an evil phone in a previous life. lol

It is facinating though. Isn't it?

I have to speak on the phone, unfortunately though I'm not very fond of it. I'm more like to social butterfly that likes to flit around and I'm more content with blogging than with chat. If I have to make a choice between chat, blogging, phone or webcasting, I would rather do blogging. This way, I can think about my response, come up with the proper word usage and then contribute to discussion without seeming rude or biased.

I'm not much of a phone person myself since I do spend a lot of time on it. Not that I like it much, but it is something that I have to do unfortunately. Most calls I get are from my agent for a gig or from the sponsor giving me another assignment these days. Most calls that I make, which are very rare, are to friends that I haven't seen in a while or to make an order for pizza. Sometimes I ask for directions if my Tom Tom can't find it.

Now that you have graciously volunteered for my study, I will certainly pick your brain a bit more when the opportunity presents itself.

Blogging is definatly my prefered method. I don't webcast. I've only ever done a little chatting on my yahoo e-mail with Yu-Chan. >.> But it's not as fun as blogging. Since I never know how much time I'll have.

Oh I certainly agree. With blogging, there are so many surprises that await such as when you see the email alert in your inbox that you have been anticipating to see and giggle out loud when it's a totally different response than what you thought it was. To me, it's like Christmas and each one is as good as the last.

Exactly! I log into my e-mail and see all these comments with various usernames attatched and I just get so excited. ^__^ I can't wait to find out what my friends have to say. lol It's actualy a little better than christmas because I don't know what's waiting for me. :P

And then there are those days when I log in and it's got a username attatched of someone who's rarely on and I get even more excited! Just yesterday I logged in and saw a comment from a guy I haven't talked to in a year and I was like "ZOMG IT'S YOU! *VIRTUALGLOMP*"

Those are the best kinds of emails! The pleasant surprises and the most random surprises make it all worth the wait. XD
