i'm a survivor

I survived! It wasn't too terrible, although the wind gusts and constant tornado warnings were a little scary and damn, it took forever to stop raining. Power went out at my mom's about 1:30pm Sunday and has been out ever since. Everyone in her neighborhood except her street has power, and word is about 15,000-35,000 people in the city still don't have power (I can't get an exact number).

Once the phones were back up, I got ahold of my roommate to find out that a tree fell right where I usually park my car, and a branch went right through her windshield because she didn't move her car like the landlord asked. My sister and brother and I are at my apartment now to take showers but I don't want to stay because while there's power here, there's also that giant tree in our front yard and the chance that more will fall because the ground is so saturated. There's a safer place to park near my mom's and my kitties are there, so I'll probably just stay the night over there. The phone lines are down at work and I can't get through, and they haven't called to ask me to come in either, so I'm going to assume they're not open.

There's some sort of leak in my car that I can't find the source of, so the entire floor of my driver's side back seat and part of the front were flooded. We got at least 14 inches of rain, probably more, and are expected to get 2-4 more. Trees are down all over the city (last report was at least 200), and steets all over are flooded, too.

We're going to get some pizza now (sooo sick of snack food) and I'll update the next time I'm near a computer and power...
