Producer David Yates has apparently confirmed that a Dr Who movie is in the offing. It is to be substantially re-worked for its cinematic release - a phrase to strike fear into most Who afficianados, I warrant. For the moment, though, I am confining my own thoughts to the knotty problem of which actor should take on the iconic role of the Dr. A few years ago it would have been easy. Alan Rickman. End of. But much as I continue to adore the man, I fear that this particular moment has been and gone. No other contender appeals to the same extent. Maybe Gary Oldman in subtle, 'Smiley' mode? Johnny Depp doing his jolly super English accent? Input and strong opinions positively invited :-)
