“O-hai-yo-go-za-i-ma-su~~,” Kai bid cheerfully to his fellow classmates, Miyavi and Keiyuu as he took his seat by the window. A smile plastered on his face as always.
“Ohaiyo, Kai-chan!” the one with a multi-coloured hair returned the greetings with a playful grin.
“Looks like someone is being a little too happy on Monday morning,” the other teased as he looked up from behind the manga he was reading a few moments ago. A deceiving innocent smile played on his lips.
Kai let out a small laugh as his friend’s answer. Well, Keiyuu is right. Which student is ever happy on a Monday morning? He knew none minus the hyper active Miyavi, but it doesn’t mean he can’t be a little happy right? Plus, the happy feelings help him to cope a lot with his oh-so-boring school life since he doesn’t really see the purpose coming. But then again, he would prefer not to have his ears bleed to his mother’s long lectures and naggings if he stays home.
“Ne, ne, let’s eat lunch at the usual place? I got this really cool melody I had in my head!” Miyavi suddenly spoke out of the blue.
Kai nodded as an agreement to his quite deranged friend. He couldn’t possibly reject Miyavi’s request when he catches that innocent glint sparkling in his friend’s eyes. A lot of people misunderstood him, especially people from their school. They took him as a delinquent just because of his unique taste towards fashion, an obsession over pink things, colourful choices of words and most of all; his hyper attitude. Yet, only the ones who are close around him know who he really is. Miyavi is a good kid who is a blessed with a big heart. Kai always finds him offering a hand to help but only to be turned down. The poor guy would either be rewarded with frightened screams from the scared girls or a blow on his head from a misunderstood grandma. Kai and Keiyuu would always find him seeking refuge on them whenever such events occurred and they would gladly cheer their friend instantly.
Keiyuu on the second hand is mostly opposite of Miyavi. In their small group, he is the one who could instantly sense the slightest change of his friends emotionally and physically. Kai knows that Keiyuu knows because the little man would tease as a hint of him acknowledging. Yet, that wasn’t the only trait which got the girls squealing for Keiyuu. The guy is no taller than 5 and a perfect candidate to be a victim to the Fashion and Make Up club. Most of the time during club meetings, Keiyuu would be found missing from his seat and the only place where his two tall friends would sought out is at the Fashion and Make Up room. The little man would be found squeezed in a dress and put on with tones of make up while happily chatting with the girls with tea and cookies on the table. Even though it happened quite often, Kai still could get rid of his shock. Maybe because of the fact that he couldn’t get rid of the memory when he watch Josou Paradise on tv by accident. Thanks to his oh-so-great one-sama…Kai shivered lightly to the thought and dropped the subject as he blows the clouds of memories away from his face.
“Oi, don’t look now... but I think Mr. Perfect is standing at 9 O’clock,” Keiyuu nudged Kai who immediately dropped whatever subject he and Miyavi was discussing, turning his head towards the direction to caught the sight of a certain bleach blond.
“You know you should really just go over and talk to him. It’s not his fault that you guys grew apart. He is in the student council after all,” Kai leaned against his chair. He is growing tired from hearing Keiyuu’s little rant towards the soon-to-be-student-president, Reita or Suzuki Akira.
Keiyuu and Reita were good friends before. They met at primary school and had been close buddies until junior high. Like every close friends they do have certain arguments but at the end of the first summer of junior high, the two got into a small meaningless fight and grew apart. Ever since that, they had never talked to each other ever since…. Well, not really… they did make up but their current group of friends never really clicks. Still, Keiyuu keeps himself updates on things about Reita in secrecy and tried not to be left behind far from Reita’s achievements. (Yet, he loses almost completely when it comes to popularity and academics. Leaving him to opt for non-academics stuff.) He takes Reita as his rival almost too seriously at times too.
“Nah, I’m not good with popular and high prestige kids. Not my type to mingle around no matter how rich or famous. They just creep me out,”
“And so does the speaker,”
“Okay, you know what? I’m not treating you for lunch,”
“Well, too bad cuz I cooked three lunch sets today~~,”
“Okay… know what? I’m just going to ignore you till lunch time,” Keiyuu turns back to his attention to his manga.
Kai smiled triumphantly. Miyavi who had been witnessing and listening couldn’t help to grin and gave Kai a high five as a reward for winning over Keiyuu. For once, he is grateful to know that he could win over his friends by the mention of his homemade meals.
Kai once again turned his view towards the hallway and see Reita speaking and laughing along with the people around him, most probably cracking a joke or something. Kai couldn’t help but to crack a smile secretly by hearing at the sound of his laughter from across the room.
Reita is like a piece of magnet in a box of needles. His good nature personality had people attached to him. It was no surprise for if he was highly demanded to be the next president for the student council by the teachers. He too had this natural talent to sweep the ladies off their feet by a crack of his perfect smile. He is every girl’s dream guy for he is sweet, caring, understanding and the list goes on under the name of “Perfect Dream Guy”.
Kai wasn’t sure how long had he been staring at the other boy until he was caught doing so when their eyes met. He averted his gaze in an instant, feeling ashamed for being caught. Thankfully, the bell of the first period rang, saving him from feeling awkward since he could sense Reita wasn’t planning to move away from that spot anyway.
The school bell chimes loudly, informing the fellow students and teachers that class had ended and lunch had taken over. Miyavi was the first to jump out from his seat, with the obvious idiotic grin of his spread across his face, grabbing his guitar bag, thanking and greet his goodbyes to the new substitute teacher in advance before the class president could and zoomed out of the class with a blink of an eye. Keiyuu and Kai could only smile and took their time walking towards their usual spot, on the rooftop of the old school building.
“Osoi ne!,” Miyavi pout and took his bento from Kai.
“If you would take small strides and walk slowly, we could have catch up with you,” Keiyuu retorted, taking a bite on the octopus shaped sausage from the bento.
“Hey, it’s not my fault I have long, beautiful model legs!!,” Miyavi stuck out his tongue childishly, stealing some unagi from Keiyuu’s portion.
“Go and cut it shorter.. AND DON’T STEAL MY LUNCH!!!,”
“No way! You’re the one with height issues,”
“Says the person who scares little kids away,”
“What does that imply to my legs??!!!,”
“Hai, hai.. Let’s eat in peace, yeah?.. Ita-da-ki-ma-su~~~~~,” Kai clasped both of his hands together with his chopsticks in between his thumb and index finger as he recites his short prayers. Lunch time was supposed to be filled with random chit chats on music, their part time jobs and annoying customers, soccer and food until the rain pour down, shooing them away into the building.
The walk back to their classroom was not as brief as it suppose to when they came upon of a crowd of girls blocking their only way to their classroom. At first they were curious on what’s going on when it dawned on them that they were witnessing a group (or mob) of fan girls hogging the back door of what is seems like a classroom. It then hit them when a they heard a girl squealed Reita’s name, claiming he looked at her..
“This. Is. Ridiculous.” Keiyuu growled while he tried to squeeze his way through the sea of fans. (okay he was exaggerating, but due to his size, I think it’s alright for him to think so?)
“Tell me about it,” Kai who just managed to get through, tried to help Keiyuu.
“Uhmm guys.. It’s not over yet,” Miyavi pointed to another crowd which are hogging the front door of class. “But I think I have a plan,”
__
The three of them slammed the door to their classroom shut; leaning against it as they pant heavily, swallowing huge chunks of air to regain their breath. After being sure that the mob had passed through and the feeling safe from being skinned alive, the three of them slumped down to the floor, taking their sweet time to breathe and regain their composure. The three of them look at each other before breaking into a fit of laughter. Moments before, they were being chased by a mob of angry fan girls after Miyavi purposely trash talk about Reita. Kai found the moment inappropriate as they were stuck in between the two big groups of girls. He still wasn’t quite sure how they managed to get out from being beaten into a pulp but it was sure a hilarious thing to do with his two best friends.
“It was good of you to actually think of a way out but next time give me heads up on it will you?” Keiyuu got on his feet and pats away the invisible dust off from his black pants. “I almost got trampled by those giant she-ogres,”
“Yeah, okay,” Miyavi grinned. “I’m saiko after all,”
“Heh, whatever guys. I’m just glad we’re alive,” Kai shook his head. “Reita sure has a strong fan base at our school,”
“What do you think? Of course he has a strong fan base. The guy is just too pretty darn pretty and he is good with the ladies. Not to mention he scored excellent grades during our freshmen year. Keiyuu just missed him by two points,” Miyavi said.
“Shut up Miyavi. I’ll get him this year for sure”
“Yeah… right.. ,”
“I will!”
“Still girls favor him above others,” Miyavi whined as he flails his arms up above his head. “We shall succumb to our virgin self for the rest of our high school life,”
“Miyavi, stop acting all dramatic… and stop cursing our lives. I’m sure enough he had yet had a girl in his love life. Last time I checked he is still doing all fine being single. So, I’m going to make sure I’m going to beat him on that section!,”
Kai cringed on the thought of Reita going out with other girls.“Ne,Keiyuu, how would you be so sure he is still single when he could have girls all around him?”
“Because, I know him... He is not the type to go hooking up with a random girl. He is high class after all.. Unless,”
“Unless what?” Miyavi tilt his head to the side with his big questioning eyes all on Keiyuu.
“Well.. I don’t know… Unless… someone would be brave enough and actually make the first move…,” the little man belittled as he shrugged. His dark eyes shooting deep meanings towards Kai are as if he was challenging his dear friend.
“Keiyuu, you do know I’m nowhere near good. I don’t even think he would have a second thought to speak with me,” Kai shook his head. “Plus, with Gackt around. I’m sure I won’t even suit him even as a mere friend,”
“I can ask Hyde-san to keep Gackt-sempai busy, you know?” Miyavi butt in.
“Then, that’s it! It’s a perfect plan!,” Keiyuu shoot his right hand in the air. “Finally my losing days is over..,”
Kai wasn’t sure whether he was supposed to be pissed or happy. Happy because his friends actually do realized how he felt and pissed because Keiyuu is actually taking advantage of him to win his childish games.. Pfft, he wasn’t quite sure if Reita would like guys too. Oh, shit… now he is getting all nervous just by thinking of it….
