Encased in ice...

... for the past 4 1/2 days! You know that giant ice storm that has turned the midwest into a land-trapped iceburg? Well, that's where I've been, trying to chip my truck out of it. Literally. I should've taken pictures, but alas, no camera!

Seriously, I have been trapped in my apartment since the night of Friday the 12th. No internet, no cable, but thankfully no power loss. I definitely consider myself lucky for that, as I was able to keep fairly warm, if not terribly entertained. Let's just say I read a lot (books 3, 4 & 5 of the HP series). Plus I was able to do a little crafting towards some cosplay pieces (very little... just like my apartment).

I was able to make it into work today (as it was the first day this week they were open), hence the quick internet fix before I try to make it home before dark. Not that anything has really had the chance to melt, since temperatures have not yet stepped over the freezing mark.

And guess what, kiddos? There's more on the way. Just by the time we should be hitting the above-freezing temps, another wave of snow is supposed to once again blanket us in a beautiful, albeit terrible winter wonderland. I can't afford to lose much more pay to this, as I'm not sure how the campus is going to handle more snow days (we've already had 2 this fiscal year, & they're really uptight about it)

Anyway, darkness approaches! I must be gone!
