Summary: Claire goes to her thinking spot, to do some thinking. Anyone who wants to stop and talk to her, feel free. I'll treat each reply as a separate thread.
Everyone had to have a thinking spot. Winnie the Pooh had his thoughtful spot, which happened to be a hollowed log outside his home. Her dad did all of his best thinking in his office, she was fairly certain. And for Claire, her thinking spot in Purgatorium was the church. It was peaceful, and usually deserted. The perfect place for a teenage girl to go and be in quiet, to pause and reflect. Which was nice, as the cheerleader was currently feeling pretty down, and in need to do a lot of reflecting.
She never quite made it inside the church, however. She stopped outside the door, unable to bring herself to step inside. She knew that if she went in,and sat in a pew, she would cry. It always happened, no matter why she was there. She had lost so many friends in the past week or two, so many people she had cared about had left her behind. She was just waiting for the Gods to take Adam away from her, she was convinced that they were going to any day now. And as much as she wanted to run home and cling ahold of Adam and never let him out of her sight, she knew that wasn't the practical thing to do. And neither was going inside the church to cry over those she had lost, or her frustration over her run in with Sephiroth. Crying wouldn't fix any of those things, they would only provide an immediate outlet for her to vent.
And she was entirely sick of crying, as she did it enough for everyone in the city. So instead of saying a prayer inside the church, Claire remained outside, peering inside the small window as she sent silent prayers to all of her friends that were no longer with her. And once she was done praying, she simply remained in place. She was in no hurry to get back home, really. She was actually hoping for someone she knew to happen across her, so that she could have someone to keep her company.
