Adam approached the riverside, for two reasons really. One, find those rings that had managed to escape the chain he always had on him. Two, he was going to work with Claire some on her sword training. He was thoroughly convinced that she was going to become a smaller version of him. Yes, that would be great, in his mind. More people who thought like him and believed what he did. He pat the sword at his side, and then noted the blond girl at the riverside.

He let his eyes rest on the ground, at least until she would have noticed him, then raised them, a smile on his facial features. "Claire," he said. He wouldn't deny her when he said he would come.

She heard the footsteps before she heard his voice, but didn't look over at him until she heard her name being spoken. "Adam." She was delighted to see that he had showed, and placed her sword back into its sheath. Not able to keep a smile off her face, she walked over to stand directly beside him. "I'm glad you showed up." She was pratically beaming with happiness as she turned her body, arms loosely wrapping around his midsection in a hug.

She pulled away quickly, however, and took a few steps back. "Did you find your rings yet? I looked as I made my way over here, but couldn't find anything." She frowned, her nose wrinkling as she did so. "Sorry."

Adam shook his head and let himself hug her briefly. "Not yet," he said. He stepped back. "But I do intend to look over by the river for a brief few moments. With it being a relatively recent occurrence, than it should be easy to at least locate them." He let his eyes shift a little towards the ground. "Do not apologize. I will be replacing that chain it was on...before long." He stepped back a moment and allowed his eyes to scan over the ground for a few moments.

"You've kept all of them?" She tried to hide the disbelief in her voice, but it was pretty hard to do. While the thought of having ten wedding rings was appealing, just for the shiny diamond factor, she didn't think it'd be very nice to have a constant reminder of what once was.

Looking to the ground herself, she turned away from him and took off walking, eyes scanning for any sign of the rings. She hoped they weren't lost.

"Yes," Adam answered. He pulled the chain from his pocket, now extremely careful, and let it hand over his fingers in a presentation to her of what he meant. Something bright hit his eye and he reached down, picking up at least one of them. "One more," he said, adding it to his ring. It was Angelica's he had found, and for that..

he was most grateful and relieved, as by the tone to his voice.

Claire was sorely tempted to take the chain from him and look it over, but felt that it wouldn't be right to do so. That was his personal business. He could tell her all the stories he wanted, but those rings somehow felt private to her, off limits.

She quickly turned her attention away from the rings on the chain, and back to the ground. She walked a little further ahead, until something shiny caught her eye. "I think I found the other!" She called out, picking up the ring from the dirt. Wrapping her hand around it, she brought it back over to Adam. Handing it over to him, she shoved her hands into the pockets of her jeans.

"Now that that's taken care of, we can do the sword thing. Right?" She knew she seemed like an eager puppy, but she couldn't help it.

"Ah...Maria's," Adam said. He took the ring and put it on the chain, before it went into his pocket. He was relieved that was over with. Sometime, some time...much...later, perhaps, he would tell Claire of what these rings were, but he doubted he'd let her touch them. "Thank you, Claire," much easier than if it was lost.

He nodded, this was the part where the two of them would have the fun that they were always meant to have...as two who could rapidly regenerate and use swords. He moved to unsheathe his sword. "The Sword thing is the main reason I came to you right now, isn't it?"

"It better be." She made a mock gasp, and feigned to be hurt. "You're just using me to find your rings, admit it." She laughed, unsheathing her sword as well. She sidestepped away from him, holding her sword at the ready. She murmured a few inaudible things to herself, little encouragements so that she'd do better.

She wanted so badly to make Adam proud, it nearly drove her crazy to not be better than she was. But she had an eternity to get better, so she wasn't all that upset over it.

"Oh, Claire -- doll," he said as he held his sword out. "I will see what you have, remember, do not hold back with me." He said it with a slightly mischievous grin on his face. He lifted his hand up and motioned for her to come at him. He didn't plan on attacking, just...defending. Then they could have a round where they reversed positions.

Determined, Claire smirked in return, taking in a deep breath. "Okay. Let's do this, then." Letting out a long huff of air, she darted foward. She knew from past experience to not just run and randomly swipe at him with her sword. She had been attempting to learn to move fast enough to fake a move, and hoped she was quick enough to do so at the moment.

As she approached him, she prepared to send the blade upward, to collide with his own. At the last second, however, she switched the movement of her swing and took aim at his side instead. She wasn't worried about hurting him. He'd heal.

Adam turned on his heel towards her fake. His smirk didn't fake a moment. "Very nice," he said. He had almost been caught off guard totally, but his sword almost caught hers, slipping and getting hit in the side with the blade, but didn't pause for a moment with that. She had clearly been learning about how to sword fight, and been doing a good job with it. Or else she wouldn't have thought to do the fake on him.

And in typical Claire fashion, she stopped what she was doing to cheer for herself. She was used to standing on the sidelines and cheering for other people, so why not herself? "See? I am getting better." She chirped merrily, a very proud smile on her face.

She bounded her way back some, so that she could strike again. This time, she simply leapt into an attack, her sword swinging to strike directly into his.

Adam used his sword to defend and stepped back to get his footing to be solid. "Good," he answered. "You are progressing, Claire," he answered. He liked to see her changing like this in a way he saw positive. She was becoming more and more like him, after all. As he liked and preferred. The more who thought and behaved like him...the better, right? Oh yes, God created man in his image. "....I am pleased," he said. It could take her some time to get to the level he was at...but...it was good.

Oh, she was beaming. The more praise he gave, the more she smiled. "Okay, okay. Now it's your turn." Really, she liked attempting to dodge his attacks, more than being on the offense. It gave her a chance to work on becoming more agile.

"A couple more months, and I may actually be able to fight someone in a real situation. You think?" She hoped she wouldn't ever have to. She wasn't a fan of fighting. Sparring was alright. Fighting was another story.

"In a couple months, I think you will do fine," Adam answered, and lifted up his blade to show he meant it. "Perhaps not myself, but I think you could hold your own." Of course, to Adam, defeating him, or even holding your own against him was a success in itself. "YOu will get there."
