She paused and looked upwards once again. This place was strange to her, foreign. The touch of the cold wind as it blew across her skin, the weird noises that arose, even that strange little creature that had crossed her path and made her jump. She'd been wary after that. It had not looked like a bad sort of creature, but she never could tell anymore ( ... )

The grey skies had once made Izuru feel at home, as if the world around him was a reflection of what seemed to constantly envelope his mind. He had deserved this place, he believed whole-heartedly, and still felt like he really shouldn't be in the Upper Level. But he did not want to be without Rangiku and moved with her, and their house guest and 'pet'. But he was thankful for the house they had and the company he kept, and he hoped he would be able to offer some solace to Hinamori as well ( ... )

It made him so happy and sad to see her again. He had been worried beyond belief when she disappeared the first time, even though he knew such things were common occurrences there. But what if she had not been? What if something had happened? Gin had left not long after, leaving Rangiku as the only pillar he could lean on and hide behind, as sad as that was to admit. It was something he was trying to change, yes, but also something very easy to fall back into when you felt you had someone to rely on, or even better, to tell you what to do ( ... )
