------
How he woke up near the junk yard when he'd originally died by the clock tower, he had no idea. As far as he was concerned, Yachiru and her friends only cleaned him off and didn't haul him away from the scene of the crime. But time and again this place proved itself stranger and stranger, and Itachi supposed that this was another act of the 'gods' that was meant to throw people off.

When he'd said to Haruno Sakura that he'd like to test out what memories he might lose, he didn't expect to lose that one specifically. He had woken up, having sharingan deactivated for the first time in a long while. Snow-covered masses, mountains of junk and broken items... everything appeared in huge blurred globs that he couldn't really seem to distinguish. It was quite reminiscent of the first time he'd arrived in this strange place of punishment and atonement. In blinking his black eyes, he was hoping that they'd simply make an adjustment; however, nothing really seemed to change. His eyesight was far worse than he'd expected, and activating the sharingan might've sounded like the answer except that resorting to it once again would prove damaging in the long run. Nevertheless, he chose the detail-enhancing camera-like red eyes over the damaged and near-dead black ones.

A dragon simply padded on by, minding its own business as the cloaked shinobi sat to think about the things that had happened and the reason that he'd died--the series of events that had taken place in Purgatorium. His mind quickly raced through all the details, recalling how the pink-haired Konoha-nin specifically told him that he'd lose a memory for every death he experienced, and it didn't take long for him to realize what he'd forgotten. But as hard as he tried, he couldn't seem to pinpoint his reasons and the leading factors. Why had he planned the massacre of his own clan? Why did he join Akatsuki? Why was he asking his brother to kill him?

Itachi was actually worried, though one could hardly tell by looking at him. Truthfully, Aaron's question How could you be so cruel to him? continued flashing through his mind--he didn't know. He didn't know... HE DIDN'T KNOW! No, he didn't know how to answer that question, but he did know how to dodge it. How could he be so cruel!?! He loved his family and loved his brother, but the Uchiha were not the expressive type; instead, they were actually quite distant with each other. There were some who were fairly friendly, some who were buddy-buddy, and others who were simply stone-faced just like their father. Respectable, but stone-faced and stoic, seemingly immovable.

He was still a little dizzy from blurred vision earlier, but his headache had only started after he realized what memory he had forgotten. It was no matter; he could still play his cards in this game. No one had to know that he didn't recall such a thing. For now, he could still use his Akatsuki position to his advantage. On the other hand, there was no one living in this world or any other who could ever tell him about his own secret motive. There was barely a crunch of snow as he rose to his feet to investigate his surroundings and adjust his eyesight.
