Summary: Cloud goes to find Tifa, 'cause she... doesn't know where she is. Much running ensues.
She wasn't sure why it felt like it had been years and years since she had last seen Cloud and the others. In fact, she was quite positive that it hadn't even been that long, and still, everything felt different. Of course, perhaps that was to be expected, given her current location; everything was different. Darker and falling apart, and for some reason, it didn't bother her as much as it should have. The reasons she was there didn't bother her as much as it should have. But what would have been the point in really getting worked up about it? She was there. Cloud was there. Leon was there. Sora, too, and could she really be that unhappy when everyone she knew was in the same place she was?
No. Not really. Which was why, when she first woke up that morning to find herself in a strange and peculiar place, she had merely lifted one shoulder in a small shrug as she stood, dusting soft brown dirt from her clothes. What was it he had always told her? Anything can happen. If you're not ready for it, then you're not ready for whatever else may come your way. And it was true, and she had held onto that, even in her own world, when her head was constantly up, tilted toward the sky as she studied the clouds, for days and days. Endless.
There was no point in being unhappy. No point in feeling anything other than motivation, determination to make the best of her situation.
A soft rumbling from somewhere off in the distance, toward the dark and misty horizon, drew her sharply from her thoughts. She looked up, dark hair falling against her shoulders as her eyes narrowed. Thunder? There was thunder here, too? Those same eyes drifted up to the strange skies above her, and her brows furrowed in confusion. Well, if there was rain, then of course. Certainly there had to be thunder, too.
Still, it hadn't sounded like thunder. It was higher pitched, and it had locked her muscles in place, sending small chills down along a narrow back.
If it wasn't thunder, then what was it?
Another rumble, louder this time, and it shook the ground beneath her feet. A gloved hand found the brick next to her as she was knocked into it, bare shoulder scraping roughly against the hard surface. She hissed in pain, dug her heels into the ground to catch her balance, and again, her eyes moved up. The skies were still the same, just as they had been moments before, and no. It wasn't thunder. Every nerve in her body knew that now, told her to do something, to move, and she didn't. Stayed where she was. Cloud. Couldn't leave him. Not after she promised she'd stay put, and plus, could she really trust him to keep himself safe?
The ground shook beneath her again, and her back was forced against the wall this time, palms pressed flat against it as she sucked in a sharp breath. Her hand moved up to her wounded shoulder, bleeding a little now, and definitely not thunder. Something else entirely.
Soft tremors in unsettled soil pulled her attention down, and she winced. Cloud.
Shit.
