Good things

Yesterday, after posting my whining complaint entry about pumping, a lot of really nice things happened.

I had lots of encouraging and helpful comments from mamas I know on LJ who have been terrifically supportive and awesome to me since the very beginning. So, to all of you-- THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart.

I got to pick Ben up at daycare; we thought Jake was going to teach a piano lesson and so I'd need to pick Ben up because Jake needed to be home right after school. It was nice to finally get to Garden Gate during business hours when there were children present and I could see how they're taking care of my baby. I had previously been there only once before during an open house when we decided to place Ben there (back when I was pregnant!).
I walked right into the Seedling room (aka nursery) and the lady holding Ben asked that I please show some identification before she'd let me touch him. While that was kind of annoying, I was really glad they did it and were sticklers for protocol because it makes me feel that he's very safe there! It was totally not a big deal and I'm glad they're protecting the children from abductors or perverts and people like that.
After we went to the UMSARC training grant picnic, Jake gave Ben his bath. After bathing and getting him dressed in a diaper, Jake was playing with Ben on the counter in the bathroom. He'd bring in one hand close with a growling noise and Ben would track that hand. Then Jake would bring up the other hand and growl again, so Ben would move his head to track the other hand. Then it was a tickle fest and Ben was THISCLOSE to laughing. It was all big grins and smiles and having fun with Daddy. It made my heart melt.

Then, as if things weren't already happy, I nursed him down to sleep at 9:45 and he SLEPT UNTIL 4:45AM!!! I only woke up because I was leaking through my nightshirt and onto the bed, but HOLY COW!! I jumped out of bed at 4:30 to relieve some of my engorgement but left Olive in the bedroom. In hindsight, that was probably a bad idea because I think she whined and woke Ben up. If she hadn't, he probably would have slept even longer! Let's see if he can do the same tonight.

This morning I was late to work because of the later-than-usual-mid(morning) feed, but it was all right because Ben had a MASSIVE poo-splosion after Jake had already taken off a poo diaper. He was commenting while changing Ben that we were just waiting for the day when Ben would be diaper-less on the table and all of a sudden poo would be spraying everywhere. No sooner had he said this than we heard a 'phtttthhhhh' sound and I grabbed a prefold to hold up to Ben's bum. We laughed and laughed and Ben smiled a huge grin (I bet he felt much better!) and it was just a happy family moment. A happy moment about poop, but that's probably going to be typical of our family for the next several years.

So we cleaned him up and got him dressed and I kissed him goodbye and told him to have fun at daycare and came to work. I hope tonight is as happy a night.

Oooh-- and I broke even yesterday with my pumping output!!! I'm pushing the fluids again today and brought in more food to eat, so hopefully that helps! Right now I need to pump another 3.5 ounces for today to make up for the 3 bottles Ben will take at daycare. I think that's a do-able amount, we'll just have to see how the next session goes :-D
