No self-respecting scientist (especially one that doesn't want to get killed) wears their bangs like this. Or looks at a camera like that. Or hold an Erlenmeyer with some random liquid in it WITHOUT wearing gloves!
Obviously the person setting up this photo did NOT consult with real graduate students. REAL graduate students would have told the photographer "Make the person look pale and nerdy. Pale because they never go outside and nerdy because... well, we ARE"
