A week in Edmonton
It wasn't quite a week, but ti was close enough.
Friday
Aislyn and I packed up and left at 6:30 am. We made it to Meadowlake at 10 am and did some shopping. Not a whole lot, but we picked up some home grown honey for my parents and my Gramma. We arrived in Edmonton at 3:45 pm. At that point, we just sat around my mom's house and did jack squat.
I spent the evening going through my mom's fabric stash. I want to make clothes for Aislyn's dolls. So we went through scrap fabric and patterns to do that with.
My leg was really sore from all the driving, so it was good that I didn't have to go anywhere.
Saturday
Aislyn and I spent the morning at West Edmonton Mall. We got there around 10 am and left around 1 pm. We shopped, had lunch, chatted with my best friend (who has the misfortune of having to work there), and went to a petting zoo.
As a parent, I approve of Harvey's. The kids meal Aislyn got came with a craft rather than a toy. Go Harvey's!
You know you've been in that mall too long when you turn a corner and see a Llama. I'm not kidding. They were taking it around the mall to advertise the petting zoo.
Got back to mom's that afternoon and just about left again. We were going to pick up her cousin and go swimming, but he'd gotten heat exhaustion earlier and wasn't up for it, so we went by ourselves. It wasn't all that much fun as I'd forgotten to bring any pool toys for her, figuring that Max would be enough entertainment.
Afterwards, we went to WalMart (how sad that that's exciting). Bought some stuffing for dolls and a few other things.
Sunday
I took Aislyn to Animethon 15. Woo. We were there for two hours and were bored stupid. On the plus side, my Nii-chan is one of the staff there, so I could track him down. I'd forgotten to bring his phone number and address with me and needed that. Also saw Dom and Tara, two of my artist friends. It was nice to talk to them and introduce them to Aislyn.
We went to Kingsway afterwards for lunch and I found a copy of Final Fantasy XII. At long last! Brand new. Never been played. $20. I love EB Games.
We did Arby's for lunch. Instead of a toy, Aislyn got a little book.
We picked up stacey and hung out at her place for a while. Then it was back to mom's.
Monday
You know how people always hate Mondays? I hated this one. My Gramma and cousin came on the bus from Kamloops. Kayla's ok, but my Gramma is the nosiest, bossiest person I've ever met. She makes me crazy. Plus, my leg was still killing me from Friday. My parents took us to Applebee's for lunch. Mom slipped me a pair of Advil for it and that helped.
Thnkafully, I didn't have to spend a lot of time around them as I was going out to hang at Jared's that night. Jared, if you're reading this, you have no idea just what you saved me from by that. Gramma was, apparently, pretty weird that night. I'm glad I missed it.
Anyways, it was awesome to hang with Jared again. It's much easier to team write stuff when you're talking to someone face to face rather than over MSN. Aislyn was pretty good, too (since she came with me). She even helped us bottle some home made sake for James. (Which is in the fridge, but he hasn't tried yet.)
On the drive home, Aislyn passed out before I'd made the turn to get off Ellerslie and into Millwoods. ^_^ I got back to mom's at 11:30, put Aislyn to bed, and called James since he'd called there earlier. I got no answer, so I figured he was asleep already.
Tuesday
Called James again. He figured the phone was me. He got to it as the phone stopped ringing apparently. He'd been worried and felt much better just hearing the phone ring.
Mom had to take stephen to the dentist today, so she wasn't around much. Dad took Gramma, Kayla, and Aislyn out so I could go see 'The Dark Knight' with Stacey. I don't know who has and hasn't seen that so apart from 'it was awesome' and 'Heath Ledger is a freaking genius' I'll say nothing about the movie. There aren't many 3 hour movies I can sit through without getting bored, but that's one of them.
Mike, Giuli, and Natalie came up for dinner, which was nice. I learned that my middle brother was trying to get rid of an old laptop, so I called him about that and we made arrangements for me to go pick it up the next day. Feel my joy! He said it wasn't a good one, but so long as it runs a word processor, I'm happy.
As a note, mom also gave me and early birthday present this year to make up for all the previous years of missed gifts.
A brand new sewing machine.
I've never had one before. it's a basic one, but I don't need anything overly complex. Not at this stage in my sewing life. So awesome, huh?
Wednesday
Went out to get Asilyn's birthday present as she'll be turning 5 in a couple weeks. Picked up my laptop from Stephen and paid for it by giving him a ride to Kingsway. Got it home, activated the installation of windows he had on it and spent the afternoon happily working on 'Path of the Sorceress'. That's going scarily well. I think I should be worried, but I'll worry about it when I'm doing my rewrites later. Also happily ripped some of my mom's CDs (for single songs that I've been wanting to get my hands on for AGES) and found a few CDs that I couldn't find in my box. Yay!
Had supper and finally went swimming with Lynne and Max. We did that for almost 2 hours and went home. I got the car packed up and got everything prepped to go the next day.
Thursday
We got a late start at 7:30. Made it into Meadowlake just before noon. I'd been feeling fine to that point. Did some shopping again and then headed for home. By the time we hit Beuval an hour and half later I was feeling like utter crap. My head was sore. By Buffalo Narrows an hour later, I was nearly dead and fighting some severe nausea. Aislyn had woken up from her nap part way there and said her head hurt, so I gave her one of the two pillows I'd bought in Meadowlake to lean on. So later hen I told her that my head hurt so asked if I needed a pillow. She's a cute thing.
We made it home just before 5 pm. I was so pathetically glad to be home. I hugged my boy, talked with my husband, checked my e-mail, had a shower, and was in bed by 8 pm. Stupid headache.
And here I am on Friday feeling much better. I've done a small amount of grocery shopping, but not much. Had planne don laundry, but that can wait until tomorrow I think...
I spent my morning playing code monkey with my website. Getting wordpress working was...interesting. Wanted that up as you need that to get comicpress going and I wanted that for my comic.
So yeah. That's me.
