After my usual walk in the fields and forest area around my house a little while ago, I was sitting having a smoke in a quiet little area and minding my own business when two young guys with backpacks approached me. I was quite alarmed and was wondering who they were and why there were just walking around aimlessly looking lost.
"What are you doing here?" One of them asked in a strong european accent.
"Sitting..." I replied. He smiled and said that they were looking for somewhere to camp for the night, they were from the Czech Republic and this was their last night in England. His friend didn't say anything but just stared at me constantly. I told them that I hadn't seen any backpackers in this area at all, ever, and told them that the land wasn't owned by anyone so they were free to set up a tent and the chances of anything bad happening to them was really slim. The conversation kind of dwindled and the guy I was talking to kept nodding even though I had stopped talking so I said my goodbyes and started to leave.
I wish I had some more people with me, some alcohol and some weed so I could go back to them later and give them a proper sending off, I have an urge to mix with these foreigners, just for a couple of hours, but I won't go back myself and anyone I called would think I was crazy to want to do it.
Is it weird that I want to put myself out there and socialise with them for a while? I ask because I usually wouldn't even think of it. Maybe it's the fact they are in a strange country and had the guts to come up to me and make conversation in the first place.
