Room 413 | Wednesday Later

Her coat was clinging hotly to her neck by the time they got to her room from the causeway. Caroline shucked it off, hanging it neatly in the closet and stowing her already dry shoes. The temperature difference was almost painful and Caroline had been sorry not to have sunglasses for the walk.

While some funeral goers carried glasses to hide the tears, Caroline had managed not to shed a single one. Her emotions were snapped into an off position. It was new, blocking out her feelings and embracing just a little of the vampire. It was freeing, too, not worrying about anyone or anything. She’d been able to focus on the funeral without hurting over the person in the coffin or being overtly...anything. An amazing feat considering she was usually the girl who was too much of everything.

And now Caroline wasn’t tired or sad. Maybe a little hungry, but she had a travel mug ready to take care of that need while she looked in her closet for something to change into. The black dress was still hot and Alexandria was totally a land made for summer clothes.

[For that guy who went to the funeral. I suppose I should warn for oddness and the NWS now.]
