Mystic Falls, VA | Saturday Afternoon [FHT]
Reality rarely matched up with Caroline's dreamed up ideas of how things ought to be. Yet somehow, that never stopped Caroline from expecting everything to be exactly the way she wanted it - especially when it came to her extracurricular awesomeness.
She had thought it would be great going back to cheering and Pep Squad before school started, spending her afternoons with all her old friends, practicing jumps and planning events and being the perfect, normal teenager. It probably would have turned out better if she actually was normal and could avoid the little things like accidentally tossing Sarah too high when she forgot her own strength. Insisting Sarah should be glad she had a concussion and not a broken leg considering her terrible form on the landing hadn't helped much with her fading popularity with the team.
Needless to say cheering was really not turning out well and it so didn't help that somehow she was no longer the Queen of Pep Squad event planning. Caroline didn't grasp how Dana had wrest control from her in both of her activities during the one semester she'd been gone. It was a hit to her ego to go from captain and chair to low level minion without any notice and when she had spent so much time planning stuff in Fandom. But no.
Which meant that after a particularly annoying Pep Squad meeting about the traditional start of school bonfire (during which Dana had obviously ignored Caroline's suggestion about how to market the event to get better attendance) a metaphorical storm cloud hung over Caroline's head as she waited for her ride to show up. Creating additional thunder was the fact that he was five minutes late. Five minutes that Caroline had to endure while insisting to the girls headed to Dana's car that yes, she had a ride, and no, she wasn't just faking having a ride or a cute, older boyfriend.
Hopefully Jake was ready to listen to a rant centering around how Katherine should've snapped Dana's neck and not Aimee freaking Bradley's. At least that tramp went after boys, not leadership roles!
