I'd better give an update or else you're gonna delete me off your frieinds list and I'm gonna be sad and even more lonesome! just kidding, but yeah, here'r some updates, the main ones, or, I guess the ones you'd probably find the most disturbing and/or interesting to read:

-I go to two catholic bible studies, and working on a third. I'm quitting one b/c the priest seems to believe that making us sing 3rd grader church songs is part of "the process". I think he's just messed up b/c he's from the Philippines. But he also seems to know exactly what he's doing. I think he knows it's torture. I really can't figure it out. anyway, the information is pretty interesting.

-I made friends with a greek orthodox convert, she has a history major and is a librarian, so it's like the coolest friend I could ever ask for. She gave me a few books on orthodox christianity, and also threw in "the purpose driven life", so that I can gain ground in understanding where I've "landed" and all the people who are "around me". (Supposedly Redding is very evangelical).

-I've been to four consecutive cities with populations under 500 and with no McDonalds I swear this area is like a best kept secret or something.

-my new apartment is neat blah blah blah. Before I was worried all my neighbors were gonna be retired folks, only to move in, and they're all like, 18 and I can hear them puking some mornings, one even has a baby, too much. One has a drunk friend who shows up swaying around every so often. So I feel old and disgusted at youth, instead of young and isolated from youth

-I hung out with my cousin and his wife in Palo Alto, she works for Clorox and makes Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing, that's so awesome. We also discussed that McDonalds Milkshakes use POLYMER as the thickening agent!!! (Hence it really means something when Jack in the Box touts 'real ice cream') POLYMER. That's disgusting.

-This organization called the Shasta Land Trust, it's a cool thing that buys up land so it stays undeveloped.

-I'm nervous about some of the upcoming training I'm going to have to provide to school employees, such as bloodborne pathogen for nurses, body mechanics/back safety for childcare workers and maintenance workers, accident investigation reporting for supervisors, and a bunch of other stuff... I'm lucky though b/c I don't have to build it all from the ground up, it's all templated etc... I just have to learn it all and figure out how to present it in an engaging manner without sounding like a goof.

-I'm listening to the Martian Chronicles and I Sing the Body Electric by Ray Bradbury on tape while I drive, yeah, so far they seem like something a 4th grader would like...
