A little fandom musing...

Dude, I was reading that whole mess on meyrevived's LJ, and seriously...the entire X fandom is totally insane. It's just a series. It's just a stupid little piece of fiction based on it. So what if it's not Tolstoy or Heller? It's not the end of the world (that was unintentional, I swear) or the end of the fandom. You take what you like, discard what you don't like, and move on. It's not something to get worked up about. Hey, it's just a hobby. You know, I don't agree with Mei on some things with her writing, but hey, it's just our differences in opinion. I respect that and tell her what I like. Haha, I just wish that everyone else would, too.

And all the people who write extensively on the subject of fandom and the proper characterization and etc...do they have lives? I'd see all the freaky, long comments while reading the hot mess and be absolutely amazed that they were still writing... Haha, couldn't they have put that time to better use by writing their own fics?

Hey, here's an idea. Instead of trying to change everything you dislike in a (I smell ramen noodles strongly) writer, try writing your idea of fanfiction perfection. If everyone just concentrated on their stuff and weren't so nit-picky about everyone else, the fandom would be a far greater place.

Haha, I still don't consider myself part of the X fandom. I was briefly part of the 383 sub-fandom in Saiyuki, I definitely was in Earl Cain, the SHAM sub-fandom in Zelda, etc...but because X is so freakin' insane, I'm reluctant to say "hey, this is my fandom", though I really adore the characters.

I keep entertaining ideas of going back to Earl Cain and being on top of the fanfiction world again (haha, my ego knows no limits) just because it was fun. But observing the X fandom certainly has been a learning experience, I'll say that. Anyway, I don't know what I'll do next. I still have things to write for X, but unfortunately, no time!

...Though, haha, instead of this, I could be writing fic...HMMMMMM.

x, earl cain, zelda, musings, saiyuki
