so today was the career expo at UNCC.. i basically only went for the census bureau, cause that's where i've been setting my focus.. i spent all week tailoring my resume, i was real sketched out about it at first, but the final product turned out not half bad (thanks jason for the help! it really made a difference).. so i went to the expo thing, talked to the census representative.. he talked a while, and basically told me everything i had already learned on their website.. i gave him my resume, and was able to sign up for a pre-screening interview for tomorrow.. him and his wife--who graduated from UNCC w/ a sociology major-- will be conducting the interviews, so hopefully i get his wife (same major, she can empathize with me =D)..

afterwords i went to the census information session, which was hosted by the same representative and got a feel for what they're looking for, where i'll be, what the environment is like, what benifits i'll get and all that.. and it really sounds cool/promising.. the only downside is i probably wont find a spot in the regional charlotte office, i'll probably have to work at the main headquarters in DC (that is, if i get a job)... but i'm willing to do that for a career, plus it wouldn't be forever, he talked about being able to transfer to regional offices after a year or two..

i think i've got the qualifications.. i'm not sure if i have everything i need for the mathmatical statistician spot (which would honestly probably best fit my skills), but i definately have what i need for the demographic statistician position, which would suit my fancy just fine.. there weren't many folks at the career expo, nor were there a lot of people at the info session, so i'm hoping my competition is thin... damn, i'm almost excited about this interview tomorrow..

wish me luck!
