Once I made a boy a card by hand. It had a heart that popped out and it said all of his nicknames and things I liked about him on the front. He just didn't understand it.
Once I made another boy a robot with a popout heart out of cardboard boxes, toilet paper rolls, silver duct tape and sharpies. It fell apart.
