[entry on october 12th, 2007]

"i have this habit of looking back
at my livejournal entries
written on the day i'm writing new ones.
october 12th, 2006, 05, 04--
and remembering where i was.

i read a poem somewhere that
repeated the line
'autumn is the human season'

and it's completely true.

every october entry reflects that.
all of my notebooks are alive with
everything, hurt and beauty and
all of it, during october.

like now-- with the leaves plastered
to puddles and the rain greying campus,
nothing matters but people and the spaces
between them. this weather makes
me want to confess something, even
if i have nothing
to confess."

...

looks like old habits die hard,
or don't at all. autumn. the human season.
i need to get the hell out of here.

but poems are moving through me,
i'm homesick for nowhere and need
to do something. change is coming,
i slept outside and it was enough
to look up periodically at the stars,
to shake the frost off the sleeping
bag this morning. and to feel the
air bite my lungs. autumn. the human season.
