Stuff is crazy! Getting stuff done with the SAC, had a good beginning with MENC, looking forward to the conference...
Pigged out today--deep dish pizza at DeLuca's with Joe, then a New York Strip at AppleBee's with Jess and her sisters, then I made brownies with frosting, added some Breyer's coffee ice cream, and put homemade hot fudge sauce on top...yeah, it was good. But the busy-ness has kept me from the gym all week. Must go tomorrow.
I'm really enjoying living with Jess. We crack each other up and yet manage to get shit done. It's definitely good.
My classes this year are pretty eye opening. Surprisingly enough, it's the two classes I was really not looking forward to that are doing it--ISS focusing on world urbanization and the middle east and an ethnomusicology course on black music of two worlds. Crazy to think of how things were not that long ago...and how far we really still do have to go. The cultural clashes between white people and Muslims and blacks are very much still present, among others. We've gotta fix this people. Let's not be like the people before us.
I'm doing a lot of teaching--I have my own early childhood music class, and my seven little children are fantastic! I have a whole new studio in Williamston, a new student in East Lansing, and I should be getting with my old students from Holt very soon!
I do feel the urge to go to the Creek though. To golf, in the fall...crisp air, beautiful changing colors on the leaves...I've definitely gotta do it.
I just purchased my third baton yesterday...woo! Loving my independent study with Madden...
I went to the Spartan football game last week, and it was a blast! Then I went to a party, and that was great too.
I'll be going to the MSU/UM game, and I cannot wait!
And for the game tomorrow, my brother in law, Jason Strayhorn, was named honorary captain by Coach Dantonio, so he gets to go to Notre Dame and do the coin toss and the locker room talk on national television!!! Woo! For those of you who don't know, he was captain of the Spartan football team, played pro for the Dolphins, and now covers Spartan football games from the sidelines for WJR...pretty fancy stuff. I'm way proud of him.
And my nephew is gorgeous, smart, and growing so fast! I love that little guy, and he knows just what to do to make me putty in his little hands. He is my favorite person on the whole planet!
Time for sleep. Can't wait to sleep in tomorrow...hit the gym...do some chillin, maybe some Crunchy's...be productive, see the WS concert...
Life is good! :)
