After doing a lot of shopping around and browsing various offbrand stores, I've created a lovely coord using pieces from both Anna House and My Lolita Dress. It's a little on the pricier side (around $450 total for both purchases, including shipping), but I'm really happy with it and I think I'm going to take the plunge! I know that a lot of brand OPs and JSKs would cost that much or close to without shipping, so I think I'm getting a pretty good deal. It's also more expensive because I have no lolita clothes at all right now and I'm buying all of the essentials. I'm getting a petticoat and bloomers, which adds a fair bit onto the cost. I still need to find a wig, but once I find a wig, that's another essential I'll use for all of my coords. Also, some of the pieces I'm purchasing are staple pieces that can be used in many coords, like a nice white blouse, a white lace headbow, and my shoes and purse, which are matching in black-and-white. I'm very happy with the things I've picked out! And both of the websites were recommended to me by an experienced member of my local lolita community, so I know I'm going to get nice things that are well worth the money. The only thing I have left that I might want to check out is optional, and that's rings, which I can probably find locally.
I'm so excited! Now I just have to hope that my dad lets me make the orders. He's incredibly skeptical of ordering clothing online. He'll be especially skeptical of ordering shoes, as will my mom. I was too, but then I started looking and figured out that it works just the same as picking clothing size with getting the right measurements and looking at the charts. Plus the person in my local group said specifically that their shoes are nice, so I know I'm getting something good. My parents will not take that word, though. They are not online shoppers. Neither was I until I got into lolita. Anyway, I really hope they let me do it. I'm ready to take the plunge. First lolita coord, here I come!
